“If you’re not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you’re not constantly demanding more from yourself - expanding and learning as you go - you’re choosing a numb existance. You’re denying yourself an extraordinary trip.”

Beginning Bears-On-Speed, The
It was a simple e-mail message I received somewhere in the mid May 2006 from Vladimir (a.k.a. Tundra/Desert): “Hi! Are you still available as a partner? I bought my plane ticket … Vladimir” with the subject “North American Rogaine Champs”. At that time I was considering of doing it anyway and trying to convince Clem (a.k.a. j-man) to be my partner. And because he made an USA Orienteering team to represent country at the WOC, I accepted Vladimir’s offer.
Now it was time to come up with some cool name for our team. We had several names, like ”Speed meets Tundra”, “Desert Glory”, ”Trail Blazers”, ”Mango Madness”. But there was the one I liked the most - “Bears On Speed”, which became official name of our super team.
Later that year I’ve registered this web site name to memorize the glory of our victory in open 24 hour category.
Vadim Masalkov (a.k.a. Speedy).
